Whiskey Women Dinner featuring Old Forester Master Taster, Jackie Zykan

March 20th, 6:30pm
$95 Inclusive of tax and tip

Did you know that it was a woman who developed the first recipe for sour mash—the basis for whiskey—in 1818? Or that it was a woman, who in the 1950’s, developed the signature red wax neck and hand-torn label on the Maker’s Mark bottle, essentially revolutionizing the packaging and marketing of distilled liquor? Women have always played a vital role in whiskey and the distilling world in general, albeit often in the shadows. The goal of the New Orleans Bourbon Society’s “Whiskey Women” series is to shine a spotlight on women and their many contributions to the brown spirit we know and love. This by no means is a women-only series. It’s open to all to attend and each dinner will feature delicious food, strong whiskey and spirited conversation around America’s only native spirit—Bourbon!

Our first dinner kicks off with bourbon superstar, Jackie Zykan. Zykan is the Master Taster for Old Forester, the oldest bourbon brand in the country. With her combined background of biology, chemistry and bartending, she’s responsible for product innovation, private barrel selections and quality assurance for Old Forester. She’ll enlighten us with her unique perspective as a woman in the world of whiskey and will guide us as we taste some very special offerings from Old Forester.
